Job Description
JOB OVERVIEW
Receive and process all payment methods for Restaurant and Bar guest checks, courteously and efficiently in accordance with Hotel standards. Settle all guest checks in the computer system and maintain accountability for all financial transactions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
Be familiar with all Hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
Maintain complete knowledge of all menus and drink prices in assigned outlet.
Be familiar with table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation and dress code of assigned outlet.
Maintain complete knowledge of P.O.S. and manual systems and procedures.
Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies. Obtain change required for expected business level. Keep bank secure at all times.
Obtain a Security escort whenever transporting bank to/from assigned outlet.
Be familiar with daily house count, expected outlet business and menu items and specials.
Set up and organize work station with designated supplies, forms and resource materials; maintain cleanliness at all times. Report shortages to Supervisor.
Answer outlet telephone within 3 rings, using correct salutations and telephone etiquette.
Courteously acknowledge all guests arriving/departing the Restaurant, however busy and whatever time of the day.
Access all functions of the P.O.S. system in accordance to specifications. Restock journal tape and change ribbons as needed.
Input orders into system and distribute to Servers.
When system is down, obtain manual checks and follow all Accounting procedures.
Process all payment methods in accordance with Accounting procedures and policies.
Accommodate guest requests for change courteously.
Settle all checks opened under own I.D. number. Settle all Servers checks before leaving; report open checks to outlet Supervisor/Manager.
Complete designated closing reports in the P.O.S. system.
Pay out tips to designated staff and document such, following Accounting and legal requirements.
Count bank at end of shift and secure bank.
Legibly complete designated cashier reports and distribute in accordance with accounting procedures.
Balance and drop receipts according to accounting specifications.
Required Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent vocational training certificate.
Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal.
Provide legible communication.
Compute basic arithmetic.
Prior experience as a cashier in a similar environment.
Ability to:
Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
Prioritize and organize.
Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
Follow directions thoroughly.
Understand guest's service needs.
Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
Work with minimal supervision.
Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
