What you Will DoThe CNC Programmer/Machinist will be an active member of the machining manufacturing team at our Stryker Spine Headquarters in Leesburg, VA.
The position will entail CNC programming, set-up and operation of machining centers along with the occasional use of detailed machining and finishing equipment.
All around manufacturing fabrication will be needed on occasion.
Projects often cross between machining/fabrication team members as a shared effort.
Essential duties &
Responsibilities:
Program and operate CNC machinesProgram complex geometry using G code and CAM software.
Ex:
rotary, surfacing, 4 and 5 axis milling machines and/or multi-axis lathesInterpret complex mechanical blueprints and 3D CAD models for manufacturing specificationsOccasional use of detail manual mills and lathesBuild, fabricate, and/or repair manufactured parts from verbal instructions, blueprints and/or working drawingsUse and operate a variety of hand tools, and electrical and mechanical equipmentBenchtop assembly fabrication and custom fittingUtilize various forms of precision inspection equipment (i.
e.
comparators, micrometers, calipers, gauging, etc.
)Perform in-process inspection of manufactured parts/assembliesRepair, clean, adjust and/or perform preventive maintenance on equipment, tools, or machinery, etc.
Ability to offer constructive feedback to engineers on design for manufacturingCollaborate with other team members to achieve the project objectiveFollow medical device manufacturing procedures and guidelinesWhat You NeedHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredGeneral computer skillsGood communication skillsTechnical certification (Apprenticeship) or specialized trainings preferredThis position requires knowledge that is acquired through experience, specialized education or training3
years of direct related machine programming/operation experience2
years of direct experience programming/operating 4 axis or more machine centersExperience with benchtop fabrication/assembly practices (i.
e.
fits, mechanics, burring, hand tools, etc.
)Hands-on experience with micrometers, calipers, dial and digital indicators, optical comparator, ring gauges, pin gauges, and thread gaugesExperience with ASME Y14.
5 M-1994 Geometric Tolerance Experienced with principles, theories, and practices of machining Stainless Steels, Cobalt Chrome, Aluminum, and PlasticsGood understanding and proficient in the application of manufacturing processes and GD&TCandidates require a mid-level of direction/supervision while demonstrating the ability to work independently solving the manufacturing needs/problems presented to themWhile performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
The employee is occasionally required to lift to 30 pounds.
The vision requirements include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
